Review of D'Primahotel Airport Jakarta Terminal 1A

Written by Ganjar

After our trip to Hong Kong, the thought of heading straight home to Bandung was exhausting. Our flight was scheduled to land at Soekarno-Hatta Airport at 8 PM, and considering the time it would take for immigration and baggage claim, we likely wouldn’t exit until around 9 PM.

Thus, we opted to spend the night at a hotel within the airport. We had previously stayed at Pop Hotel and Zest, which are outside the airport, and the wait for the hotel shuttle had been less than ideal.

One downside of airport hotels is their cost—they tend to be pricey. However, the convenience and proximity to the terminal somewhat justify the higher rates.

Luckily, we stumbled upon D'Primahotel, one of the more affordable options at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. We snagged a promotional rate of about USD 25 and promptly booked our stay.

With such a rate, our expectations were modest. Our primary need was just a place to sleep for the night. But how do the price and the facilities stack up? Let's dive into the details.

Location

D'Primahotel Airport Jakarta Terminal 1A, as the name suggests, is nestled inside Terminal 1A of Soekarno-Hatta Airport. Its prime location makes it a viable choice for travelers seeking a brief respite before their next leg of travel.

Guests can access the hotel from both the external and internal sections of the terminal, which is particularly convenient for those arriving at Terminal 1. The entrance is modest, marked only by the hotel's name.

Conveniently situated near food courts, minimarkets, and shopping areas, the hotel ensures that everything you might need is just a short walk away. If hunger strikes, a variety of dining options are readily available nearby.

We landed at Terminal 3, so our journey to the hotel began with a ride on the Kalayang. Alternatively, travelers can use either free or paid shuttle services that connect to Terminal 1.

Upon reaching the entrance, we were promptly greeted by hotel staff who inquired about our reservation. Since we had booked online, we were quickly ushered inside.

To our surprise, the first thing we encountered was a set of fairly high stairs leading up to the lobby. There's no escalator or elevator available, which was manageable for us since we weren’t carrying heavy luggage.

However, this setup could pose challenges for those with more baggage or for guests with limited mobility. It's unclear whether there's special access for guests who need it, which could be an important consideration.

The lobby itself is compact but well-equipped with several tables and chairs, providing a comfortable waiting area for guests. There are newspapers and a PC available for internet access, which adds to the convenience.

Adjacent to the reception is a small bar where guests can purchase food and soft drinks. I noticed signs for Roti'O and Kopi'O, indicating these brands were available for purchase there.

Room Facilities

After checking in, we went straight to our room. We had reserved a standard room, roughly 20 m² in size. Given that this is a transit hotel and the price was affordable, our expectations were reasonable—we just hoped for a comfortable rest.

The room is quite small and lacks windows, which might not suit everyone, especially those who prefer natural light. However, the artificial lighting was bright and created a cozy ambiance.

The room offered standard amenities including two bottles of mineral water, a water heater, a safe deposit box, and some tableware. These facilities were adequate for our basic needs during the stay.

One issue we encountered was the lack of soundproofing in the walls. Noise from outside the room was easily heard, which could be disruptive for guests sensitive to sound.

Despite this, the room was fairly comfortable, featuring a soft, clean mattress. There was also a small table and chair useful for working or dining. An LED television provided a range of local and international channels, though we didn’t use it much.

Bathroom Facilities

The bathroom was surprisingly spacious for a hotel of this category. It was equipped with standard items like towels, toothbrushes, soap, and shampoo. The hot shower functioned well.

A notable inconvenience was the poor drainage in the shower area. After showering, water tended to pool on the floor due to inadequate leveling, which prevented it from draining properly.

Conclusion

Overall, our experience at D'Primahotel Airport Jakarta Terminal 1A was neutral. It wasn’t particularly impressive, but it wasn’t disappointing either.

For those looking for a budget-friendly hotel within the airport, this hotel is certainly an option worth considering. It’s particularly convenient if you’re arriving late at night or have an early morning flight.

However, if time is not a constraint, there are several alternative hotels outside the airport that may offer better amenities at a similar price. Many nearby hotels also provide complimentary shuttle services, which could be a significant advantage.
