Review of Hotel Wing International Select Hakata Ekimae

Written by Syfa

On the last day of our trip to Japan, we visited Fukuoka City in Fukuoka Prefecture. Since our flight home was from Fukuoka International Airport, we decided to stay at a hotel nearby for one night.

I was very happy to visit this city. My first impression was that it felt quieter and less crowded compared to other cities in Japan. It is also a city with a lot of history, which makes it interesting to explore.

If you are planning to visit Fukuoka and are not sure where to stay, I hope this article can help you!

Location and Access to the Hotel

Hotel Wing International Select Hakata Ekimae

Hotel Wing International Select Hakata Ekimae is located at 3 Chome-22-19 Hakata Ekimae, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka, 812-0011, Japan.

The hotel is only a 5-7 minute walk from Hakata Station, which is one of the main stations in Fukuoka. From this station, you can take Shinkansen, local trains, or buses, so it is very convenient.

If you are arriving at Fukuoka International Airport, you can take the Kūkō Subway Line to Hakata Station, and the trip takes only about 5 minutes. After that, you can walk to the hotel, so there is no need to take a taxi or another kind of transportation.

The hotel is in a good location, especially for travelers with children or a lot of luggage. There are many shops and restaurants around Hakata Station, including convenience stores and shopping malls, so you can easily find everything you need nearby.

Reservations and Room Rates

We booked our room at Hotel Wing International Select Hakata Ekimae about a month before our trip through Agoda. The reason was simple: third-party apps often offer attractive discounts, especially during holiday periods.

However, after comparing several platforms, I noticed that the hotel's official website sometimes provides better rates. This is particularly true when taking advantage of promotional packages or discounts available for members.

The nightly rate at this hotel is quite reasonable for accommodation in the heart of Fukuoka. At the time, we paid around ¥8,730 per night for a Standard Single Non-Smoking room, and payment was made upon arrival.

If you book in advance or during the off-season, you might be able to get an even lower price.

The hotel itself is not very large; it’s more of a standard size. However, it offers several useful facilities for guests. At the entrance, there’s a reception area where guests are welcomed.

In the lobby, there is a dedicated space for picking up amenities, as they are not provided in the rooms. If you need items like slippers, dental kits, or toiletries, you can simply take them from this area.

The hotel follows a Sustainable Development Program. To avoid unnecessary waste, they’ve adopted this concept of self-service for amenities.

Another unique feature of this hotel is its global theme. Each floor is designed to reflect the style of an iconic city, such as Barcelona, Istanbul, London, New York, or Paris.

The room we stayed in was compact, measuring just 12m². However, this was not an issue for us since we were only staying for one night before heading home for the holidays.

We happened to get a room with a Barcelona theme. The design featured a vibrant mix of yellow, terracotta, and electric blue tones, giving the space a cheerful and unique atmosphere.

Although the room wasn’t very spacious, it was clean and well-equipped for a three-star hotel. The facilities included AC, a working desk with a telephone, two glasses, an electric kettle, a mini fridge, a TV, cleaning supplies, a luggage rack, and a hanger. Everything was in good condition and worked perfectly.

Now, let’s talk about the bathroom. Like most hotel bathrooms in Japan, it came with a bathtub and, of course, the signature Japanese toilet with control buttons.

The bathroom was minimalist and had a clean appearance. It was equipped with soap, shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap. The shower provided both hot and cold water, and both worked without any issues.

Overall, our stay at Hotel Wing International Select Hakata Ekimae was pleasant, with no major problems.

If you’re planning to visit Fukuoka soon, this hotel is a great option for both short and long stays. I hope this review helps with your trip planning!
