Choosing a morning flight often means lower ticket prices and plenty of promos. The downside? You might need to book a hotel close to the airport. Luckily, around Soekarno-Hatta Airport, there's a good range of accommodations from budget to five-star hotels.
We decided to try POP! Hotel Airport Jakarta, a budget-friendly 2-star hotel. Was it worth the price? Let's take a look into the review.
Located at Jl. Raya Bandara Soekarno-Hatta No.106, Tangerang City, POP! Hotel is just a few kilometers from the airport. It's part of the same network as the nearby Ibis Hotel.
Like other nearby options, POP! Hotel offers a complimentary shuttle service to the airport. It’s important to arrange your pick-up in advance with the hotel, and similarly, book your return shuttle at the reception to ensure a spot.
The shuttles run hourly in a mini-bus, so it’s wise not to make last-minute arrangements—as you might end up waiting for the next available slot.
For those driving, the hotel provides ample parking space. However, note that the hotel is somewhat isolated from convenience stores and dining options. The only nearby place to grab a bite is a cafe at the front of the hotel, which appears to be operated by POP! Hotel.
The lobby at POP! Hotel is spacious and welcoming, featuring vibrant wall decorations that create a cheerful and lively atmosphere. There are plenty of chairs and tables available, perfect for guests who need to wait, grab a quick bite, or just relax.
For convenience, the lobby is equipped with vending machines offering snacks and drinks, a hot water dispenser, a coffee machine, and even an ice cream fridge. These are particularly useful given the lack of nearby convenience stores.
At check-in, the reception staff will ask if you need to book the airport shuttle and offer to set up a wake-up call, which we needed for an early 3 AM rise to catch our 5 AM flight.
Being a transit hotel, POP! Hotel Airport Jakarta offers a simple choice between twin and double beds in their rooms.
Each room is compact, about 16 m², outfitted with just the essentials: a safe deposit box, LED TV, and a foam-covered bench that could potentially accommodate an extra guest if needed. Notably, there’s no fridge, which makes sense for a budget, transit-focused hotel like this.
An interesting design choice is the placement of the sink, which is located outside the bathroom, right by the entrance. This likely helps maximize the limited space, as the bathroom itself is quite small, utilizing a space-saving tube design.
The bathrooms at POP! Hotel are quite unique, featuring a modular tube design rather than a traditional, built-in setup. Despite being compact, there's enough room to shower comfortably.
Amenities provided include towels, tissues, liquid soap sachets, and soap bars. The hot water is reliable, which was a welcome feature to soothe our travel-weary selves after the trip from Bandung.
For a 2-star hotel, POP! Hotel Airport Jakarta meets the mark as a transit hotel. Its proximity to the airport and the complimentary shuttle service are significant pluses.
One minor drawback is the distance to dining options. While they are within walking distance, if you're not up for a stroll, ordering food through an online delivery service is an easy alternative.
