The Whoosh high-speed train has significantly reduced travel time between Bandung and Jakarta. However, the Whoosh station in Halim, Jakarta, is still quite far from Soekarno-Hatta Airport, which many Bandung residents often use for their flights.
Thankfully, there’s now a direct connection between the two. Damri provides a bus service for this route, and we had the chance to try it during a recent trip to Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
If you’re planning to take this bus as well, here’s a simple guide to help you out.
The first thing you need to do is get a ticket. You have two options: buying it online or purchasing it directly.
For online purchases, you can use the Damri app. If you prefer to buy it in person, you can do so right before boarding the bus, as there’s no ticket counter at the Halim station.
Interestingly, buying online isn’t mandatory. When we purchased tickets through the app, we noticed there were no specific seat numbers or departure times mentioned.
The app only indicated that buses depart every hour. So, either option works, and you can choose what’s most convenient for you.
Once you get off the Whoosh train at Halim Station, head to the exit gate first. After exiting, turn right and follow the signs pointing to the bus area. The signs will lead you down to the 1st floor.
After reaching the first floor, keep following the bus signs until you step outside through the main station door. You’ll find a Damri bus parked nearby, ready to pick up passengers.
Next, head to the bus. A Damri staff member is usually present to check your destination and ask about your flight schedule to ensure you reach Soekarno-Hatta Airport on time.
The staff will guide you onto the bus, and you can choose any available seat. If you have luggage, you can store it in the designated space in the middle of the bus.
Though the bus isn’t very large, the seats are soft and comfortable. Each seat even has a holder for your water bottle, making the ride more convenient.
Before the bus leaves, another Damri staff member will collect ticket payments from passengers who haven’t purchased tickets online. You can pay either in cash or through a cashless payment method.
If you bought your ticket online, like we did, the staff will simply scan the QR code from your Damri app. They’ll also ask which terminal you’re heading to at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
Once all the passengers are on board, the bus will depart from Halim Station. The trip to Soekarno-Hatta Airport takes about an hour, depending on traffic conditions.
Taking the Damri bus from Whoosh Halim Station to Soekarno-Hatta Airport is, in our opinion, the most practical option.
Compared to the alternative of using the LRT and airport train, the bus is much more convenient—especially if you’re traveling with lots of luggage or small children. Switching between the LRT and the airport train can be quite a hassle, so the bus saves you time and effort.
Enjoy your journey!
