In the previous post, we shared our experiences taking the glass floor gondola in Awana Station. So, when the gondola arrived at SkyAvenue Station, we had some time to explore various must-see attractions and must-experience family activities there!
Resorts World Genting has now become one of Malaysia’s most popular weekend destinations. This place is often known as the resort above the clouds because it’s perched at the top of Mount Ulu Kali and covered in fog. So it’s really like being above the clouds.
In addition, the temperature in Genting can be freezing. During the day, the temperature is around 22°C and can drop to 12°C at night. Therefore, it is highly recommended to wear warm clothes such as jackets or sweaters when going to Genting.
Resorts World Genting is about 50 KM away from Kuala Lumpur, located in Pahang, to be exact. We went there by bus from KL Sentral to Awana Station. Then, we continued our journey using the SkyWay cable car to SkyAvenue Station.
Please see our post about reaching Genting Highlands from KL Sentral by bus if you want to know our journey heading there. It takes about an hour to arrive at SkyAvenue Station, depending on the queue length when taking the cable car.
I would say that this place is the best choice if you want to spend time with your family or loved ones! It’s like a one-stop solution for folks who have different needs to decompress and unwind.
No wonder it can be very packed during the weekend. That’s why my husband and I decided to come here as earliest as possible so we couldn’t get into a long queue for the cable car attraction.
There is no entry tickets for visiting Resorts World Genting. Tickets are valid only if you want to enter the rides or try some of the attractions here. Do you want to discover a world of endless entertainment? I’ve got you covered!
Not only famous for the casinos, but this resort is also famous for its hotels, yes plural. You are spoilt for choice with the resort and the six hotels, each giving you comfortable vibes and iconic styles. They have First World Hotel, Resort Hotel, Genting SkyWorlds Hotel, Crockfords Hotel, Genting Grand Hotel, and Highlands Hotel.
First World Hotel is designed with bright, rainbow-colored towers, so you can easily spot them from afar. It is claimed to be the most epochal one as it is said as the largest hotel in the world since it has 7531 rooms!
One of the most talked-about attractions of the Resorts World Genting area is the casino. There are two main casino outlets in the resort, Genting Casino in Genting Grand area and SkyCasino in SkyAvenue Mall.
We didn’t know the completed requirements for entering both casino outlets cause we never tried it anyway. But one of the criteria for entering the casino is people aged 21 years and above and non-Malaysian Muslims. You might take a look at their FAQs here.
Though it’s inside a building, you can experience more than 20 rides in a convenient location at First World Plaza and adjacent to SkyAvenue. The rides are divided into three categories—Family Rides, Adventure Rides, and Thrill Rides.
Family Rides is categorized as ‘Low Thrill’ so the rides are safe for children. It has Jumping Spurs, Boo Boo Bump, Ride ‘Em Round, and many more.
Meanwhile, Adventure Rides and Thrill Rides include medium to high thrills, such as Loop de Loop, Balloon Race, Royal Carousel, Disco, Spin Crazy, Soaring Ships, and more.
For your safety, these rides require that guests be a specific height or taller. You may refer to the ride warning sign in front of your preferred rides.
This theme park was formerly known as 20th Century Fox World Malaysia because, initially, it collaborated with the production house of 20th Century Fox. The theme park was said to be a competitor to Universal Studio Singapore and Legoland Malaysia.
However, during the process of developing the park, Fox Entertainment terminated its agreement with Genting. Genting Highlands Group still wanted to continue its development with a new name and repurposed it with some novel concepts. Several 20th Century Fox’s film-inspired rides were also removed.
So now, Skyworlds Theme Park is finally open to the public and has become Southeast Asia’s most anticipated theme park. There are more than 20 rides you can try.
The various rides are divided into eight areas—Andromeda Base, Central Park, Eagle Mountain, Epic, Ice Age, Liberty Lane, Rio, and Robots Rivet Town.
Have you watched Ripley’s Believe It or Not? If yes, then you’ll be familiar with this one. There’s a ride that picks up the theme from that legendary TV show, Ripley’s Adventureland. You can try five unique and fun rides that adults and children 90 cm above can explore.
They have a 4D Trick Art Museum, Zombie Outbreak, Jurassic Research Center, Infinity Time Capsule, and Ripley Odditorium. The ticket pass for those five attractions is RM 86. You may see the whole terms and conditions for entering this Adventureland here.
You can elevate your retail experience above the clouds by visiting three shopping malls at Resorts World Genting. The first is SkyAvenue, where you can swing by the cable car. Then, you will arrive at the station located in the SkyAvenue area.
The next shopping mall is First World Plaza under First World Hotel. This mall is connected to the SkyAvenue area so you don’t have to move when you are at SkyAvenue. And the last mall is Genting Grand Complex.
The three malls have many tenants, ranging from fashion retail to various restaurants. They also have a cinema, a bowling alley, and more. In addition, the retail shops here are famous, such as Uniqlo, Adidas, Michael Kors, and many more.
We tried one food outlet in SkyAvenue, Santai Yamch’a. If you want to know its full review, please see our post about the outlet here.
So, that’s quite a review of Resorts World Genting. There are still many more to offer because the place is grand that we were tired of walking around SkyAvenue and First World Plaza. I highly recommend you to visit this resort so you can experience the thrill by yourself.
As mentioned above, this resort is such a perfect place for a family vacation. You can stay at 5-star hotels, explore the theme park, go shopping, and play your favorite slot machine or electronic table game in casino outlets.
It won’t be enough for you to be here just for one day. You might extend your holiday period if you want to try all the facilities and rides available. Also, there are many things that you can also explore at night.
There are a lot of facilities open late, including bars, karaoke, and clubs. And oh! You can still ride the SkyWay at night. It definitely feels different when you ride SkyWay during the night.
There’s also a Chinese temple situated in the most scenic site of Genting Highlands, Chin Swee Temple. You can use the cable car to explore the temple. We had the best experience visiting the temple using the gondola, and you should try too! Read our journey when exploring the temple caves here.
