A luggage tag is essential when you travel. It helps you identify your bag easily, especially at busy baggage claim areas, and prevents mix-ups with other passengers' luggage.
Luggage tags come in different styles, including the tag and strap types. The most basic ones often use simple straps made of rubber, plastic, or yarn.
Many people find it tricky to attach these tags with plain straps to their suitcases or bags. This is because these straps don’t come with a buckle or hook, so you have to tie them on yourself.
If you’re facing this issue, don’t worry. In this article, I’m going to explain how to tie and attach a luggage tag using a plain strap.
The first thing you need to do is put the strap on the luggage tag. To explain better, let's call the ends of the strap A and B. Here's how you do it:
Once the strap is on the tag, you're ready to attach it to your suitcase or bag. First, decide where you want to put it.
A common spot is the luggage handle, either on top or at the side. This is a great choice because it's very visible.
Another option is the luggage zipper. This is also easy to see since it's on the top or side. The downside is that it might get in the way when you open and close your suitcase.
It's least recommended to attach it to the telescopic handle (the one you pull up and down when moving the suitcase). The tag can shift when you raise the handle and might block it when you lower it.
Once you've decided where to put the tag, it's time to tie it on. The steps are similar to how you attached the strap to the tag:
Now your luggage tag is securely attached to the suitcase handle or wherever you chose to put it. This method can also come in handy if you need to tie something like a key ring to your luggage handle.
Don't forget to fill out your luggage tag with the right details. This helps if your luggage gets lost. To learn what information you should include on your tag, check the article below:
