5 Simple Tips to Make Your Luggage Stand Out

Written by Ganjar

When we're waiting for our bags at the baggage claim, we sometimes see luggage that looks just like ours. Because they're so alike, we often need to check the suitcase first to make sure it's ours before we take it off the conveyor belt.

This can be really bothersome, especially in a crowded area with lots of other passengers trying to get their luggage too. Sometimes, people even end up taking the wrong suitcase because they all look so similar.

To avoid this problem, you can make our suitcases look different and eye-catching. If our luggage is easy to spot, not only will it be easier for us to find, but other people will also be less likely to take it by mistake.

In this article, I'm going to talk about some ways we can make our luggage more noticeable. Want to know what they are? Here's the rundown!

1. Pick a Brightly Colored Suitcase

When you're choosing a new suitcase, it's a smart move to go for one in a bright color like red, yellow, or orange. These colors are much easier to spot from far away.

Try to avoid dark-colored suitcases, especially black. They're harder to recognize from a distance. Plus, black suitcases are very common, which makes it tough to tell them apart from others when they're all together.

2. Use a Luggage Cover or Sleeve

If you already own a dark-colored suitcase, you can make it stand out by using a luggage cover or sleeve. There are plenty of these covers out there in various colors, designs, and materials.

Not only do they make your suitcase look more unique, but they also protect it from scratches that can happen during travel. As we know, suitcases often get rough treatment and can get scratched up.

Choose a luggage cover with a distinct color and pattern to make sure it doesn't look like everyone else's. If you're concerned about protecting your suitcase even more, pick a cover made of thick material. This can help lessen the impact on your suitcase.

3. Use Luggage Tags

Another way to make your suitcase stand out is by using a luggage tag. A luggage tag is a special label that you can attach to your suitcase, usually by hanging it on the handle or zipper.

You can find luggage tags in all sorts of shapes and designs these days, from country flags to superhero characters. For something more personal, you can even create a custom-designed luggage tag.

Besides making your luggage look nicer, luggage tags are also useful for holding your personal details. On the back of the tag, there's usually a space to write important information like your name, phone number, and email address.

This information is very helpful if your luggage gets lost or left behind. If someone finds your luggage, they can easily get in touch with you using the details on the luggage tag.

4. Decorate with Stickers and Embroidery

Decorating your suitcase with stickers is another great way to make it unique. You can stick them on different parts of your suitcase, either on the front or the sides. This way, your suitcase will be easy to spot from any direction.

Choose stickers that stick well to the suitcase so they don't fall off. Avoid sticking them on bumpy areas of the suitcase, as this can weaken the sticker's grip.

If your suitcase is made of fabric, you can use embroidery instead of stickers. The embroidery can be attached with special glue or sewn on so that it stays on permanently.

5. Tie a Strap Around Your Suitcase

The final method to make your suitcase stand out is by tying a strap or belt around it. The main purpose of this strap is to keep your suitcase secure, especially if the zipper breaks and it pops open during your trip.

But if you pick a strap with a unique color or pattern, it can also make your suitcase more noticeable than others. So, try choosing a strap that's bright and eye-catching.

For extra security, consider getting a strap with a TSA lock. This means the strap can only be opened by someone who knows the code or by TSA agents with a special key.
