How to Go to Gardens by the Bay Using MRT and Bus

Written by Ganjar

Visiting Singapore and not seeing Gardens by the Bay feels like a missed opportunity. Known for its rich variety of plants and activities, Gardens by the Bay offers plenty to do, whether you're looking for free experiences or ticketed attractions.

Getting to Gardens by the Bay is easy, as it's located near Singapore’s city center. While taxis and private cars are an option, taking the bus or MRT is often cheaper and just as simple.

In this article, I’ll explain how to reach Gardens by the Bay using both the MRT and bus, which are affordable and handy options for travelers.

Using MRT

There are two MRT stations near Gardens by the Bay: Bayfront MRT station and Gardens by the Bay MRT station, located on opposite sides of the park. Choose the station closest to the part of the gardens you want to visit first.

1. Bayfront MRT Station

Bayfront MRT Station is north of the Gardens and is accessible via the Circle Line (orange) and Downtown Line (blue).

Once you arrive, just follow the signs to "Gardens by the Bay". You’ll walk through an underpass decorated with beautiful flower designs and plants, making the journey itself quite pleasant.

Exiting the passageway, you'll arrive at Bayfront Plaza. Here, you can buy tickets for various attractions in Gardens by the Bay. This spot is close to Floral Fantasy and offers bike rentals and a shuttle service for a quicker way to explore the park.

Bayfront Station is also a short walk from other popular sites like Marina Bay Sands, the Red Dot Design Museum, the ArtScience Museum, and the Supertree Grove that's famous for its evening light shows.

2. Gardens by the Bay Station

The Gardens by the Bay MRT Station, one of Singapore’s newest, is on the south side of the gardens. You can reach it via the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL), which is marked with a brown line.

After you arrive, follow the signs to Exit 1, which is uniquely adorned with nature-themed decorations, similar to those at Bayfront station.

This station is perfect if you’re heading to attractions in the southern part of the gardens, like the Satay by the Bay food court and the Marina Barrage. The Marina Barrage is a great spot for a picnic or flying kites due to the open space and strong winds.
